This is a super easy way to make a vegan version of my favorite childhood soup. You just throw all of the ingredients into your Instant Pot, and within a few minutes, you’ll be enjoying a comforting bowl of rich split pea soup.

Vegan Split Pea Soup with Porcini Mushrooms (Instant Pot Recipe)

This is an insanely easy split pea soup recipe. You pretty much just drop everything in an Instant Pot, and it comes out soup.

  • ½ onion, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery rib, diced
  • 2-3 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped dried porcini mushrooms
  • 6 cups water or vegetable stock
  • 2 tablespoons  No Chicken flavored Better Than Bouillon
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 pound dry split peas
  • red pepper flake
  • black pepper to taste
  1. Dump all of the ingredients into an Instant Pot, or electric pressure cooker. Cook on high pressure for 18 to 20 minutes. Use the quick pressure release. Remove the bay leaves and thyme stems. Stir and taste for seasoning. Serve warm.
