Ingredients:

  • ½ onion, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery rib, diced
  • 2-3 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped dried porcini mushrooms
  • 6 cups water (or vegetable stock)
  • 2 tablespoons  No Chicken flavored Better Than Bouillon (if using water)
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 pound dry split peas
  • Red pepper flake (optional)
  • Black pepper to taste

Directions:

Add all of the ingredients into an Instant Pot, or electric pressure cooker, and cook on high pressure for 18 to 20 minutes. Use the quick pressure release. Remove the bay leaves and thyme stems. Stir and taste for seasoning. Serve warm.
